What a Dragon Should Know by G.A. Aiken

Happy Manic Monday! Pull up a comfy chair and grab a cup of virtual coffee. As some of you might know, I had a little surgery done to my right wrist last week and all is well except I can't write for any long periods of time.  Left handed typing sucks and all my first drafts HAVE to be written long-hand. So I have been making a dent in my TBR pile on my Nook.

I discovered a new to me author and want to review her newest release, What A Dragon Should Know by G.A. Aiken. Sorry, if I don't follow review protocol, I don't normally do reviews but this book impressed me enough to want to share my thoughts.

Ms. Aiken creates a wild fantasy world filled with dragons in disguise. This book is the third installment of the Dragon Kin series. It starts with Dragon Actually, which I just finished last night. It follows the lives of the royal dragon family consisting of many brothers and sisiters. I love their interactions, petty arguements, and retailations. Coming from a large family, I can vouch for the craziness siblings can induce in each other and also the fearce loyalty. Ms Aiken characters are all wonderfully imperfect and I loved reading every moment.

Blurb:

Only for those I love would I traipse into the merciless Northlands to risk life, limb, and my exquisite beauty. But do they appreciate it? Do they say, "Gwenvael the Handsome, you are the best among us-the most loved of all dragons?" No! For centuries my family has refused to acknowledge my magnificence as well as my innate humility.Yet for them, and because I am so chivalrous, I will brave the worst this land has to offer.

So here I stand, waiting to broker an alliance with the one the Northlanders call The Beast. A being so fearful, the greatest warriors will only whisper its name. Yet I, Gwenvael, will courageously face down this terrifying…woman? It turns out the Beast, a.k.a. Dagmar Reinholdt, is a woman-one with steel-gray eyes and a shocking disregard for my good looks. Beneath her plain robes and prim spectacles lies a sensual creature waiting to be unleashed. Who better than a dragon to thaw out that icy demeanor?

And who better than a beast to finally tame a mighty dragon's heart?

This one has been recc'd to me. A lot. Especially because I adore Deborah Cooke's Dragonshifter novels. Must move this one up on the To-Buy and TBR piles.
