Sexy Supernatural Creatures

It’s Halloween night and creatures that go bump in the night are coming out to play...well, we hope they are.  What is it about supernatural creatures that make women go crazy with lust?
Is it the danger?  The strength of creatures?  The of the charts sexiness?  Hmm...I’m not quite sure.  But what I do know is that no genre has ever taken me so completely.  I’ve read all types of novels in pretty much any genre that’s out there, and no matter how fantastic the story is, there’s just something about a great werewolf tale or hot vampire adventure that keeps me captivated.
In truth, would we really want someone to bite our neck and drink our blood?  Maybe some would.  Me, not so much.  But when I read it in a novel, I’m seriously wishing it was me.  Why is that?   Is it because it taps into the romantic fantasy’s that stir in a woman?  I’m thinking, yes.  To be consumed by a man so completely that wants every part of you, including your blood.  Hell, that’s sexy, right?  Or a werewolf that couldif he wantedrip you into little shreds, but instead, loves you in a gentle way.  Yum!!
The thing I love about supernatural creatures, and I why I enjoy writing about them, is the ability to create a man that just can’t possibly exist.  It’s taking all the things we love about our men and amplifying them.  Not only can they love you, but they can love you far beyond what is possible in everyday life.
So, what’s your take?  Why do you think women are salivating over these scary creatures??

I don't think that I would want to be bitten either. I think that it is the mystery and intrigue surrounding vampires that has a lot of people salivating over them.

More books for my TBR list :)

While I love a sexy vampire hero, shifter stories are my absolute favorite paranormal reads. Something about the animal characteristic blended with human wants and needs is just fascinating, and most times wildly imaginative.

No biting for me either. I think maybe it's the danger, it's like the bad boy thing, a lot of women like bad boys.

I think we salivate because they are sexy, mysterious, brooding types and very protective of the women they love.

I think it is because they are so strong and dangerous but vulnerable and protective of their mates.

Maybe it is the idea of living forever, never getting any older, having all the riches you can hoard. Being bitten might be kind of sexual, but I don't think I would then want to bite someone for my survival:)

When I think of the hottest bite scene ever, I think about that episode of Buffy where she lets Angel feed on him to save him from the vampire poison. It is depicted as absolutely orgasmic. THAT, is why I believe a woman might think she'd like to be bitten.

But I'm with you--sounds like a big owe!

I think we are drawn to the dark, moody, mysterious souls, the perverable bad boy.

I love them because of their intensity. They're oh so mysterious with the appearance of being unattainable, so when you capture their attention you feel extra womanly.

I don't know if I'd let a Vampire bite me, it all depends on the guy. I think women love vamps, weres and other parnormal creatures because the love they describe is endless, consuming and really scorching hot. But, that could be just me! ;)

I think that we salivate over these hero's for exactly the reasons you gave, they have all of the best qualities we want that really don't exist in one man or a man that we know.

I think it's about a level of escapism from our real world. It's what you said. It's the extreme of what is real, but then there's also that little nagging hope within our imaginations that we'll find someone like that.

I think it goes back to that basic dream, the princess and the white knight. Granted the modern princess has gotten more independent but we all just look for a guy to sweep us off our feet. The supernatural hero does just that in a really big way... think Superman vs. Clark Kent. Clark became just as sexy to the viewers but really because we knew he was capable of sooo much more.

I don't think I'd want to be bitten, but then again they're soooo sexy! Lol, I thinks that's why we love them. They're the perfect men - and perfectly unattainable.

I so agree with Carlie about the Buffy scene. But when I read it, it's kind of up there with BDSM, it's the ultimate surrender and giving... Kinky and loving and beyond. Not that I'd want to give them my blood mind you. :)

Hi Stacey!
I totally agree with that it is sexy to think of being consumed by a sexy creature of the night including your blood, but I guess when you think about it in the light of day... I have my doubts:) Doesn't stop the fantasies though!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Isn't it all part of the "fantasy"? Otherwise we would just be reading reg contempary romances. Right? I wouldn't really be into a real vamp or were, but there are the extreme goth people out there who do things I don't even want to think about. So I read fiction books to get away from the real world, not to wish the book was real. I have a real, good man (who is a reg, everyday guy to go with the reg everyday girl I am. Not matter what my alter-ego may wish it was...) It goes back to the Prince NEVER did really marry a peasent, or middle class, but we love the fairy tales of that kind.
Now where did I leave that alpha man?

Good post Stacey! I think women are salivating over vamps is because of the way you writers write them!! Plant a seed in a fertile imagination and....yummmmmm!!! Works for me!! :)
