Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because you can act foolish and eat way-way-way too much sugar. I think the whole day is about being a kid at heart. I love to watch my kids dress up and go out to trick-or-treat. There’s something exciting about the whole day that makes me smile. It’s fun to see uptight co-workers get funky in wild costumes, and even the folks at the DMV seem a little friendlier. My favorite tradition is making caramel apples and caramel corn with the kiddos before they go to bed, then I curl up with a good paranormal romance or two.
One of the reasons that Halloween is extra special to me this year is that my new release from Silver Publishing, Don’t Take Candy from Werewolves is released on October 30th!
Jenica Bradley isn’t ordinary. She’s the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter and one of the last of the Atlantian race. Now, to save her people, she must complete a pact her people made long ago, and mate with the Alpha-male of the local werewolves.
Malone Luna returns to lead his father’s pack. He soon finds himself with a confusing need to protect the little Atlantian witch—bitch—who’s to be his mate, but all she wants from him is freedom. He’s sure he can give her that, but not before, he’s had her.
This story was fun to write and it is the perfect length to enjoy with a nice hot cup of apple cider or Brandy slush after the little ghouls have gone to bed.
Brandy Slush
9 C. Water 1-12 oz. can frozen orange juice
2 C. Sugar 2 tea bags
1-12 oz. can frozen lemonade 1 or 2 C. brandy
Boil 7 cups of water; add sugar, lemonade, and orange juice. Boil 2 cups water and pour over tea bags. Let stand 5 minutes. Combine with lemonade mixture. Add brandy. Freeze in a 5-quart ice cream bucket. To serve, fill glass ¾ full with slush mix and add 7-up.
VARIATION: Omit tea bags and use 3 cups sugar. Gin or vodka can be substituted for brandy.
Homemade Caramel
2 C. sugar 1 C. cream
1 C. brown sugar 1 tsp. salt
2/3 C. white corn syrup 2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 C. butter
Cook to softball stage for popcorn and a little longer for apples.
