Paperback Blues

I've been using a Nook exclusively for over a year. I love it. I live in a rural area so the closest Barnes and Nobles is a 45 minute drive away. With the Nook, my purchases are one click away. :D

I went to a convention recently and recieved many, many free books and bought a few two but mostly in paperback. I didn't think anything of it at the time except what a pain in the ass to lug around. (OH my aching back)

Then this weekend I finally got some time to crack one open. I'd forgotten how to hold a book with one hand. There's a knack to keeping your fingers in the right place on the spine yet keep them out of the flipping way of the words. Not only that, there's no save a place button when you close the thing. LOL The font was too small for my old eyes and I couldn't adjust it. Then when I wanted to read in the bath I couldn't fit in a plastic ziplock bag to protect it and still flip the pages.

I love looking at them though.

It's odd how easy it was to adjust to my ereader and how I take it for granted. (hugs her Nook)

I'm constantly torn between my Nook and a paperback. The good news is my library always accepts my paperback donations! At least I know they're going to a good home.

I love my e-reader(Kindle). I never thought I would like one as much as I do, but now I prefer to read on my e-reader. Paper books are just a pain that take up space.

I seriously think e-readers will be the way of the future--most people will have one and the paper back book will become something of a novelty item.

I totally agree with you. I love the fact that I can read my Kindle without having to hold it. It also helps that my 2 year old can't tear out the pages. Lol.
I do still love paperbacks, but it is just so much easier (in many ways) to have an eReader. I especially love their covers. :)

I've found myself trying to click to turn pages in my paperbacks. I'll even reach out to hit the space bar to clip forward if I'm sitting near my computer.

I love my ereader, but I don't think it trumps paper completely. I still want print copies of my favorite books. For most of my reading, I love my ereader though.

I have to admit that I do get ticked when my battery gets low at a good part. It only means I need to move closer to an outlet but that is a pro of paper.

Same here. I can't believe I broke down and bought Patricia Brigg's new novel in HB. Then forgot all about it. It's like if it's not on my Kindle, it doesn't exist.

It was a kick ass novel, btw. You should read the Mercy Thompson and Alpha/Omega series if you don't already.
