Introverts Unite!

by Maureen L. Bonatch

So...I have a new book coming out on October 7th! entitled,

Grandma Must Die

As an author, it's my job to flit all over the place on social media like a headless chicken blurting
'book, book, book, book-out!'

Tweeting and Pinning and Blogging- oh my!

I could post an excerpt here and be done with it. I could ramble on endlessly about the story, the characters, the process of getting from idea to a finished novel, or how it took close to two years to get this story where I wanted it to be or what it's like to be an author and just what I sacrifice to make time to get the words on the page (just ask my hubby who'd like to see me without my laptop, my friends who still naively ask me if I've watched a specific television show, my exercise videos gathering dust, the dust bunnies renting out rooms in my home...you get the picture).

Because from my experience, most authors (including myself) are introverts. Despite the time suck that social media elicits, it's a rich haven of opportunities for authors who might not be the best personal promoters (the few times I've attempted public speaking have not had the best results...if only I could do it telepathically.).
But give me a keyboard, and I won't shut up!
So if you ask me if my book is out yet...in person, then my face pinches up like I've bit into a lemon, my brow furrows and I frantically think about how to express over 80,000 words that I've purged, honed and molded into a story. Inside I'm ecstatic, mooning over the cover, smiling until my cheeks want to crack and...
...all that comes out is, "Yeah."

So without further ado, I'll let the cover and blurb speak for themselves. Cause we all know, I'm gonna end up just babbling about love, magic, witches and bounty hunters.

She's a witch hunting a spell. He's hunting witches and falling for her.

Carman has worn out more towns and last names than impractical shoes protecting the secret of her magic blood. But when a friend goes missing, and another is infected with a deadly spell, Carman must choose. Expose her magic blood by curing the spell—or stop the infection from spreading by killing the source…the grandmother.

Magic bounty hunter Dylan has scoured libraries of banned magic paraphernalia seeking a method to distinguish genuine witches from impersonators. He suspects unorthodox librarian Carman might hold this information tighter than the hair he’s dying to unleash from her bun. With a past as hidden as his sleeve of tattoos, Dylan discovers he’s been used to gain Carman’s trust and their passion risks more than mixing mortals and magic.

So...Tell me, are you an introvert or an extrovert? Love Social Media? Or hate it?

Penning stories boasting laughter, light suspense and something magical in the hope of sharing her love of finding the extraordinary in the ordinary world.

Exciting blurb and a wonderfully entertaining book. Those are the kind love to read. Added to my must read list. Good luck with your book.

I am an extrovert, but just learning about social media, what a learning curve. So that being said, I will reserve judgement until I have further experience. LOL

Thank you Tena!

I'm introvert in extrovert's clothing. :-) I can give a speech in front of a large crowd, but one-on-one I get tongue tied. Go figure! Twitter can be fun, but most social media sites baffle me. Instagram? No clue. I have not yet mastered Twitter or Facebook, but I keep slogging away at it. One day I will conquer the tweet!

lol Anna- speaking in front of a large crowd just about gives me hives! FB is my favorite social media escape. I have faith that you will conquer the tweet! Thanks for stopping by.

I'm from the Greta Garbo School of Thought - "I want to be alone." So I guess that makes me an introvert :) - I love the blurb! This is a must read for me.

lol- love that Lida! Thanks for visiting. :)

Great title for a book! Anyway, I vacillate between introvert and extrovert depending on the day. Same way with social media. Somedays I love it, somedays I don't want to look at it. Best wishes with your upcoming release!

Love the book title and blurb! Humor is my fave! I am an introvert and have just become familiar with FB. Don't understand tweeting and I know there are tons of social sites I haven't even heard of - and I really don't mind my ignorance on that topic. I much prefer speaking one-to-one with someone who has intriguing ideas or who has traveled somewhere I'd like to go.

Love your title, love your cover, love your blurb! What's not to love, it's soooo catchy!
I don't know what I am anymore. I used to be an introvert when I was a kid and then I lettered in debate in high school and did lots of public speaking when I was in corporate world. However, I didn't do Facebook at all until I went back to writing and that's still what my FB is about, my writing and other authors' writing. I don't tweet. I like Pinterest because it's low-key and less interaction. I love to talk with close friends, but acquaintances, not so much.
So, I have to say, I'm a very confused person. LOL I will say, I'm not big on social media. That's the only part I miss "from the good old days" of traditional publishing. Hah!
When our books were in bookstores and we only had to attend the occasional book signing and conference and had to have a website. So, guess I'm not a big social media fan. Hey, phsst, don't spread that around!

It's so nice to see how everyone has different social media sites they lean toward (or not at all, lol). At least there are choices! I admire anyone who enjoys public speaking, lol. It will never be my thing! ;)

LOVE the cover and the blurb sounds fantastic.

I'm a total introvert and absolutely get what you're talking about. How do I explain to non-authors the process of writing/publishing a book? I do like social media most of the time. But for a release your chicken analogy is spot-bang on. Lol.

Best of luck with your release!

Thanks for visiting Abigail! Gotta love the chicken- I can totally relate to it, lol.
