Quick Fixes to Beat the Heat by Elizabeth Alsobrooks

It’s hot out, just about everywhere in the country right now. Really hot! Here in the Sonoran Desert it's been in the hundreds for weeks. So, I thought it might be a good  idea to offer some ideas on how to stay safe and have fun while cooling off. Safety? Hydrate, and don’t let yourself get overheated, even if a shower is all you have to cool down. With that in mind, you might want to try one or more of the following.

1.   Go boating, kayak, canoe, sail or motor . . . be sure to jump in!
 2. Visit an ice cream shop
3.   Have an iced latte
4.   Visit a bookstore and find a cozy spot to read
5.  Go to a mall and people watch
6.   Go to a movie-theaters are always chill
7.  Get some water guns and have a blast with your kids, spouse, friends
8.  Go to a water park
9. Give your dog a bath outside
10. Water your plants
11. Wash your car…and get wet
12. Find a pool
13. Go for a ride with the air blasting
14. Rent a ski jet
15. Inner tube down a river
So chill out, keep hydrated, use sunscreen, and let the sun shine on!

Great tips! It's not as hot in PA as it is in some places but I'm ready for Fall weather.

The yard sprinkler was our go to as kids! Other than finding a mall that has people in it or a movie theatre that's open, those are great suggestions.

Maureen, we actually got rain tonight. Only the second time in months. Monsoons are sure running late here and it was 111 yesterday.

Nancy, we have open air malls here, and all the stores are air conditioned to the max...with masks and social distancing, but yeah, probably not that great right now, though the theaters have social distancing requirements and they even had night time drive ins at the marketplace, where you could watch from your car or sit up a folding chair in your own individual 'lot'.

I love the go to an ice cream shop. If you have a QuikTrip in your neighborhood, they have a dynamite swirl vanilla cone for $.59! or the bookstore is a lovely idea. It's been pretty hot in SC.

We're just ending a cool(er) spell here in west Michigan. The weekend is bringing hot & muggy. I love visiting an ice cream shop--wearing a mask and social distancing. As a kid, running thru the sprinklers was always fun.
