Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself...

My name is R.K. Charron.

I am an as-yet-unpublished writer and voracious reader.

I'm very honored to be a part of Paranormal Romantics.

I live in a small city where all Fantasy books are in one section, so it wasn't until I was on Twitter, nearly a year ago, that I discovered there were sub-genres like Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. I was surprised & pleased that three of my favorite authors were Paranormal Romance:

I love that Paranormal Romance differs from Urban Fantasy in that it has a Happy-Ever-After ending and that it has it's own award: The Paranormal Excellence Award for Romantic Literature which is the readers' choice award. Plus, having it's own category makes it so much easier finding new authors and books!

I look forward to being here every Thursday, sharing all things Paranormal Romance.

I was nervous about this first post, because I wanted to do justice to one of my favorite blogs, but I think it went well, don't you?

We must be distant neighbors. lol I didn't begin reading romance/fantasy/paranormals until about two years ago. (Before that I was all about the hard crime novels.)

To me, urban fantasy has a very distinct sound in my head while I'm reading. Paranormal romance is also very distinctive. I have never considered them the same thing, or considered them the same thing as fantasy.

I think it comes from showing up so late on the scene, or maybe (most likely) I'm just odd like that. ;)

Great first post. I know you'll love it at PR. You're in some great company.

Hey! Welcome! We are so thrilled to have you here! I discovered Paranormal Romance on vacation...sort of. LOL. I always read Romance (huge Nora Roberts fan) and I loved it in particular when she'd pull out what i thought of as the 'supernatural' but then I ran out of reading material on a beach and the store had Christine Feehan. I thought WHAT IS THIS? And I was hooked. Sherrilyn Kenyon followed immediately. So glad to have you with us! Hope the writing is going well!

I'd say it went very well! *wink*

Hi RK, welcome to PR. You're a great addition to a cast of wonderful, amazing ladies!

Speaking of paranormal romance, I wasn't exactly into it (I did read Christopher Pike as a teen) but it's only when I met my hubby, who's into paranormal movies, that I discovered the genre really and then delved into my preferred medium - Books!

Looking forward to seeing you here now!

Hugs

Hi RK,
Great post! I, too, am a huge fan of the paranormal. Christine Feehan was my first paranormal read, in fact... Vamps who can shapeshift, sweet!

Good luck with the posting, I can't wait to read more. :)

I have to say that 'Waking the Witch' cover has my attention. Welcome to Paranormal Romantics RK! I see the party has already started.

I still read primarily space opera and urban fantasy but I do have a Feehan book sitting on my TBR pile.

I'm glad you're posting. I've seen your name at many of the blogs. I only discovered paranormal and urban fantasy last year. My daughter came up with several library books and said you need to read these - Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I went on to read Mary Janice Davidson's Betsy series. Now I subscribe to lots of blogs and have found many more authors and series.
