It's All In The Name

First off, Rebecca pointed this out, so I thought I'd share with everyone. Four of us here at Paranormal Romantics have new releases out with Liquid Silver Books - and we're all on the New Releases page at the same time. Check it out!

J Hali has Stone Dead, Rebecca has Simon's Fate, Stacey has The Willow and I've got Blood Fever.

So, for the past few days I've been thinking of titles. See, I'm working on the next book in the Rebirth series (#3) and the title's been okay, but nothing that I felt was strong enough to continue the events that brought Blood Fever to a close (it ended as it did for a reason - trust me). Normally, the next book would be another couple (Flash of Dark was about Ana & Stark and Blood Fever was Logan, Evande & Quinn) but the build-up of the romance storyline couldn't be contained in just one book. While the plotline with the Elders continues in the next book, so will the relationship woes between the main characters from Blood Fever. The title I had originally selected for this next book was good, but it wasn't strong enough to reflect these characters and the next trials I get to put them through (insert evil author laugh here).

Two days of brainstorming and I've got a new title.

Which is quick.

It's odd how sometimes a title will just hit me over the head. Others, it's only after a large amount of brainstorming can I find the title. The book I just finished writing - Midnight's Shadow - had a title even before I started writing the book. Others have taken some thought. My upcoming release - Hardware - needed to have a title reflective of both characters but still have the "geek" twist since it was for a submission call about geeks. That one took about two weeks to come up with and it wasn't until I'd finished the book, did the title slap me upside the head. (How does it reflect? He's into cuff/collars. She's into computers. Yeah, sometimes the obvious is just staring you RIGHT in the face...). I've gotten to a 1/2 way point with the next Rebirth book, which means I'm starting another book, something new for me, but still paranormal/urban fantasy. I'm not at a point where I start thinking of a title just yet - but I'm sure that it'll hit soon.

I hope, hope, hope that it's easy because I've been going crazy for the past two days.

And there we all are. LOL! I actually can't write a book without the title all set. Is that odd? Only once have I changed a title after it's done I love your titles by the way and Hardwire was PERFECT.

That is so cool--love it. I'm like Rebecca, and I changed a title once--book sat for a year!! Usually a title jumps in my head, followed quickly by the names and antics of the characters. Good Luck! I like Hardware too!

Don't start me about titles! I've never had trouble until this summer. I've even finished the book yet changed the title five times and am considering changing it again. LOL
