Who is Doctor Who?

My new hobby, that's who.

He's a British science fiction television hero. An eccentric humanoid alien that goes by the name the Doctor having adventures through time and space, traveling in his space ship called the Tardis. An acronym for Time And Relative Dimension In Space, which resembles an old, blue police box. With companions, he travels any where in time and space, rights wrongs, and saves the day.

I remember watching this show as a child on PBS. Now, I catch it when I visit my family in Canada or in spurts on the space channel. At least until I found whole episodes listed on--you guessed it--youtube.

Every time I start writing a sci-fi story at some point I begin to question if I'm getting too far fetched. I ask myself, "Is this believable?" Then I watch Doctor Who. With good writing and great story planning anything is believable.

So, I've spent some time catching up on episodes I've missed and even had the chance to introduce the next generation of fans to him.  My sons watched BLINK with the weeping angels and thought the concept fabulous. My five year old has spent the day moving my small garden gargoyles around the house so  he can freak my ten year old out. LOL

Here's the first part of that episode.

What are your favorite episodes?

I'm not British, but I LOVE this show (and Torchwood, and Being Human).

"Blink" is one of my favorite episodes, along with "The Satan Pit", "Gridlock", "Silence in the Library" and "The Empty Child" are others that come to mind.

"Silence in the Library" was the episode that got me back into watching the show.

Now I have to figure out how to get Torchwood.

My favorite has to be New Earth. If you haven't seen that one yet...do. Funniest moments.

Oh and if you've never seen the BBC Mini Cassanova with David Tennat, you should try to find it and watch it. He was GREAT in that. I became of fan of him after that mini and when I found out he was going to be Doctor Ten, I was thrilled.

I am British...and love Doctor Who ;-)

It's probably quite sad that one of my earliest memories is of a Doctor Who ep...and it terrified the life out of me! lol

Matt Smith, I'm not so enamoured with yet. I still prefer the David Tenant story lines. But then that's probably because he has John Simm's Master. Yum *grin*

I adore Doctor Who! My favorite is David Tenant, I love his humor and smile. My favorite eps are The Doctor Dances, Blink, Utopia, Partners In Crime--Donna's my favorite companion, and Turn Left. Torchwood is equally wonderful and I'm completely obsessed with Captain Jack Harkness!

LOOOOVE Doctor Who! I don't think I can narrow down a fave epi though. Have you heard of the band Chameleon Circuit? They sing Doctor Who songs. Amazing! You should check them out.
