I'm back from my FIRST ever RT and it was pretty amazing, but overwhelming. VERY overwhelming for an introvert like me.
New Orleans had always been on my bucket list.
Driving there was half the fun of it as well.
YES. It was a long drive. Two days that were 10+ in length.
On the way back my traveling companions and I decided to break it up into 3 days and that worked much better.
Still, at RT I got to meet new people and connect with friends I hadn't seen in a long time.
A couple who didn't recognize me since they last saw me in 2008.
The food was AMAZING. Beignets, Cafe Au Lait and as much fresh seafood as I could get.
On the way back we stopped in Memphis, TN and I have to say Memphis is a rocking place. I never thought it would be, it was never on my bucket list.
I thought, heck we might as well stop at Graceland. I'm not a huge Elvis fan, but thought it's there.
WOW I can say if you ever get the chance to go to Graceland ...GO TO GRACELAND and then hit Beale Street and just soak in the birth place of rock n' roll.
Memphis was fantastic.
All in all I'm glad I went. It'll be a couple more years before I can get the courage to hit RT again and if I do, I hope it's closer than New Orleans (the south and my sinuses didn't get along).
Still, I'm glad I did it, but I'm happier to be home.
