This Christmas by @meganslayer #romance #gay @evernightpub #christmas #rockstar #gayromance

This Christmas by Megan Slayer

Christmas is the time to try again…

Tennessee Landes never stopped loving his ex-boyfriend Jordan Moore. The trouble is he sees Jordan everywhere because they’re both on the rock music scene in competing bands. It’s impossible not to cross paths. Tennessee’s never known why Jordan left and he’s determined this Christmas to set the record straight. He wants Jordan back.

Jordan’s struggle with his family and the abuses suffered in his past directed him away from Tennessee and he’s regretted leaving ever since. When he sees Tennessee’s heartfelt plea at a televised show, he finds the strength to reconnect with the man he loves.

Will Tennessee take him back or will Jordan’s past scratch any chance of a happy Christmas and future together?

Cullen nudged Tennessee. “Christmas is the time for love and second chances. We’re going to keep entertaining the masses and having fun. Spread cheer and joy, you know?” Tennessee asked. “Just have a great time.”

Cullen nodded. “Exactly.”

The presenter offered a dorky smile. Tennessee kept his own fake smile on his face. Everyone was pranking the audience with the false sense of fun. If the holiday season wasn’t being pushed so quickly and didn’t involve such terrible memories, Tennessee might have been more authentic.

The presenter turned specifically to Tennessee. His canned smile widened and seemed even more plastic. “Would you like to send a special Christmas message to anyone in particular?”

If there was ever a chance to speak directly to Jordan without being obvious, it was this one. He softened his grin. “Merry Christmas, you. It’s not Christmas without you.” He winked, happy that he’d stayed intentionally vague—unless Jordan saw it. He’d know exactly who you referred to.

If Jordan saw the sentiment, then he’d get it. If he wanted to reply, then he’d do it, but Tennessee didn’t expect anything. If nothing else, the fans couldn’t say he hadn’t reached out to Jordan first. He’d tried.

Christmas should be the time for laughter, good times, and fun.

Love, too?

It was time to jingle some bells and listen for a jolly tune in return. Right now, he had to hope Jordan heard it and wanted to sing the chorus with him.

Carsten held up his hands, then slid them down Will’s shoulders. “There’s so much you don’t understand.”

“I have my doubts.” He didn’t want Carsten to touch him, but he couldn’t seem to pull away. God Almighty, why did he have to be attracted to him? Even after all this time, the attraction was still there.

“Do you know where I was living during my senior year of high school?” Carsten asked.

“Wasn’t my business.” Even if he’d have asked, he’d have been assaulted so he didn’t bother.

“I lived with Nick Clain’s family because mine threw me out.”

Nick Clain? He remembered the guy. A soccer player with a nice ass and sweet smile. Nick wasn’t gay, either. But if Will remembered correctly, Nick and Carsten had been friends for years. “Why did they throw you out?” The last he knew, Carsten had everything going for him. He was the picture of what any Brookville kid should be—handsome, well-adjusted, and straight.

Except he wasn’t straight.

“They threw me out because I admitted I was gay back then.” Carsten kept his hands on Will’s shoulders. “That’s why I treated you so shitty. I hated that you were so able to be out and no one hated you for it. I hated that you had parents that fucking loved you. Everything went your way. I said I’d punch you into next week because that was something my father always said to me. Sick, isn’t it?”

He had to be talking about someone else. Things hadn’t gone his way in school. He’d had to learn to handle the backlash for his sexuality and how to be his own man. Yes, his parents had backed him all the way, but he’d never questioned that. They were his parents and had always been his biggest supporters.

“I hated that you were even on the prom court because I wanted to be the king,” Carsten said. “You were good at music and art.”

“But you’re good at football and must be good enough at music or you wouldn’t be on tour.” He didn’t understand what was going on or why he couldn’t seem to pull away from Carsten.

“You don’t get it.” Carsten shook his head. “It’s so plain, but even I didn’t get it back then.”

“Get what?” He hated when people spoke in riddles. “You were beaten, weren’t you?”

“My parents didn’t want a gay kid. They wanted a successful one. My father beat the ever-loving fuck out of me for being gay. You never saw the bruises because I tried so hard to hide them. When I took the time to learn my guitar and practice writing music, then got some actual success, they began to like me,” Carsten said. “I’m not anything to them if I can’t give them money.”

“That’s sick.” Truly.

“They hated that I was gay. My father left me bruised and battered.”

“That’s sicker.” And a piece of his heart broke for Carsten. He didn’t know what it was like to have parents who didn’t support him and couldn’t imagine being in Carsten’s place.

“It is and I hated myself, which made me hate you. I was so hurt and I wanted you to hurt, too. You were everything I wanted to be,” Carsten said. “Everything I wanted. So confident in your own skin. I had to hide mine.”

He paused. He had to have heard Carsten wrong. Everything he wanted? That made no sense. “What did you want?”

Carsten remained close to him and caressed Will’s shoulders. “You.”

Dylan.

He shouldn’t say anything. Should keep on walking.

“Hi there. Do you come here often?” Hell. Of all the things he could’ve said, Chase picked one of the worst pick-up lines…ever.

Dylan’s eyes narrowed. “Do I—we’ve met, haven’t we?”

“I’m sorry. I’m horrible at manners sometimes.” Chase offered his hand. “I’m Chase. We met at the Riley party.” He dropped his voice to a whisper. “I’m Mind Bender.”

“Oh!” Dylan’s eyes widened. “I hadn’t recognized you…but I bet that was the point.” His cheeks burned bright red and the color spread down his neck. “Can I say that was a good show, or will I get you into trouble?”

“Won’t get me into trouble. I appreciate the kind words.” Chase nodded to the cart. “I needed to get a few things. Care to walk with me, or are you nearly done?”

“I’m trying to get my shopping done while Nathan’s at swim camp.” Dylan gripped the cart. “The kid is a fish.”

“He’s your only child?” Chase pulled up beside Dylan and walked the rest of the way down the frozen food aisle.

“Just one. My partner and I couldn’t decide on another one.” Dylan’s blush deepened. “It’s a long story.”

“But I bet it’s a good one.” Chase missed being able to converse with other adults. The people at the store were okay, but they weren’t Dylan. The spark from the party hadn’t been in his imagination. He and Dylan seemed to be able to talk quite well.

“The story has its good parts, but there are bad parts, too.” Dylan stopped. “How much more do you have to buy?”

“Truth be told, I’m done.” Chase grinned. “I didn’t need much.”

“If you’re done, do you want to grab a cup of coffee? The little shop allows carts. I’ve only got a few more things to get.” Dylan flexed his fingers on the cart handle. The indentation of a wedding ring was evident, but not deep. Divorced? Split up? Chase wanted to know and yet, he didn’t want to ask.

“I’d like that,” Chase said. “I’ll pay for my things while you finish, then meet you at the coffee shop in, what, ten minutes?”

“Sounds good.”

Paying for his items didn’t take the entire ten minutes. For once, the lines at the store moved quickly. Chase tucked his change into his wallet. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d gotten through the line in less than fifteen minutes. He pushed the cart to the coffee shop. Most of the tables were empty and one of the booths was free. He pushed the cart behind the booth and plopped onto the wooden seat.

His skin prickled. Being around Dylan heightened his senses. What was it about the dad that kept him on the edge? He eased his phone from his pocket and switched the ringer to silent. If anyone needed him that bad, they could wait. As he sat there, the saltshaker began to levitate. Oh fuck. He grabbed the glass container and held it to the tabletop. No, no, no. His powers weren't allowed to go haywire. They weren't.

Writing the Magic of Christmas with @MeganSlayer #christmas #shortstory #gayromance #erotic #bdsm

There is something about the magic of the season that's fun for authors. It is. Authors have the thrill and romance of
Christmas as inspiration for stories. I love it. There's something about the snow, the chill, the sparkles and the nostalgia that gets to me. I'm a sucker for the movies. Doesn't matter what channel, I'll find a Christmas movie and indulge. I don't care if it's mundane, if the ending is silly or if I've seen the movie a hundred times, I'll watch.

Why?

Getting immersed in the spirit of the holidays helps me to write. Once one idea starts flowing, the rest follow. This year, one of my Christmas stories involved a box. Now, I know what you're thinking. Um, there are a lot of boxes that have to do with Christmas. Hello, Christmas gifts come in boxes. I put a new spin on the gift idea.

Here's the blurb for my short story, Christmas Box:

Hayes Carter knows what he wants out of life -- to be the best lawyer he can, to balance his work and home life and to please his Sir. This Christmas, he wants to belong to Sir for good.
Ford Rogan loves his boy, Hayes, but Ford's not sure he's relationship material. Hayes, though, makes him think otherwise. Then there's that naughty Santa at the club... Submit and your wish will come true
Can Santa, even a naughty one, grant their wishes? Will the magic of the season be enough, or will they end up with nothing more than a lump of coal?

See? Not the standard here's a gift and I hope you like it fare. A person in the box? Now, don't get wonky on me. This isn't a creeper story. I like feel good Christmas tales. Everything works out in the right way at the end. There's magic, mayhem and a spanking or two. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

What about you? What's your favorite thing about Christmas? I'd love to know!!

Want to know more about Christmas Box? Then check it out at Changeling Press! Out now and on sale!! Gotta love a sale!

The Actor and Dog off the Chain ~ @MeganSlayer #mmromance #novel #pets #dogs

Odd title for a blog post, right? I know it is. Follow me here. It’ll make sense in a moment.

When I wrote the book, What’s His Passion? Wild Card, I knew I had two strong characters—Kris and Zayn. I knew they were the focus of the book, but side characters can be just as important.

I’m an animal lover. I really am. Having three cats and three dogs, you could say I live in a zoo. You’d be right. When the mailman knocks on the front door, it’s a five-alarm panic. But I love it and this love showed up in Wild Card. Kris is a wounded man. He needs more than a lover. He needs a few friends, too. My dogs are great companions. They don’t talk back—although I’m convinced some of the barking is sassing—not that I mind. They stay beside me when I’m blue and are great for exercise. So how does this match up to Kris? And why would I bring a dog into a story about a gay man in porn?

In Wild Card, Kris lives in a nice private development, but even in the nicest places, wicked people exist. His next-door neighbor has a dog. You’ve probably seen the type—the dog is constantly outside. There’s no grass under the dog house and the circle he runs. Rain, shine, heat, cold…the dog is there. Kris sees a bit of himself in the dog next door. They’re both wounded. The dog needs attention and love. So does Kris.

So Kris’s in porn. He believes he can reach a little higher in life. He believes the same thing for the dog. They’re kindred spirits. The dog is a pit bull, so people think he’s dangerous. He’s actually very sweet and goofy. But out on the chain, he comes across as scary. He really wants attention. Same thing for Kris. People see the porn actor and think he’s dirty or nasty. He’s so much more once someone unlocks his potential.

Here’s an Easter egg for you—the dog is named Nugent. According to the neighbor, he’s named after Ted Nugent. That’s not where I got the name. I’m a huge Cincinnati Bengals fan and the kicker for the team during the writing of Wild Card happened to be named Nugent. The dog is named after a professional athlete. Grin.

Now I have to admit I’m the kind of person who can’t stand to see the dog/cat/etc hurt in a book or movie. For the dog in Wild Card, the feeling was no different. Nugent is a sweet dog. He and Kris as well as Zayn have to have a happy ending. Want to know what the happy ending is? Then you’ll have to read What’s His Passion? Wild Card. I hope you enjoy the love and the dog.

Here’s a little bit about What’s His Passion? Wild Card:

Following his heart and passion will be his biggest role of all.

Kris Hunter wants out. He’s done pornographic films for the last six years. The pay’s been good, but his creativity is nearly dead. His passion is to act and to be a star on the big screen in mainstream films. When he auditions for famed casting director, Zayn Mason, he’s convinced he’s on the right path. He doesn’t want to take the casting couch route to success, but he certainly wants Zayn in his bed. Can he follow his dreams and the man he desires or will forces beyond his control derail his progress?
Zayn Mason sees the potential in Kris. As a casting director, he looks for the right actor to fill the roles in movies. He’s seen plenty of talent come and go, but no one stirs his soul both creatively and physically like Kris. But Zayn knows the pitfalls of the movie industry. Crossing over from porn isn’t easy and Hollywood isn’t always forgiving. Besides, he’s got demons of his own. Can these men get beyond their pasts and find a future together under the bright lights of the silver screen?

Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of voyeurism and intimacy with multiple partners.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life... with @MeganSlayer #mmromance #vampires #zombies

I like to try to look at the bright side of things. I prefer to be a positive person in general. Trust me, I'm not perfect. I'm a worrier. Did I lock the house, shut the garage door, remember the detergent when I went to the store...that kind of thing.
Fifteen minutes into a six hour drive, I'm panicking trying to remember if I did whatever it was I could swear I forgot to do. Yep, that's me. I'm human.

But there's something about looking at the bright side. In some situations, there aren't many bright sides. I get it and it sucks. But I'm trying to be positive. We're here to talk about books and fun. We're talking about ideas and originality.

Sometimes when I'm writing, an idea that's so far out there comes to me and I wonder if the idea is worth chasing. That happened with my newest MM book, Never Give You Up. I already had a world where vampires, shifters and every other supernatural creature is being hunted. The forces who don't understand them want them gone. If you've read the other Battle Scarred books, then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, then what are you waiting for? *g*

In Never Give You Up, the supernatural creatures are turning on each other. Some have united, but there are a few who are out for blood, so to speak. What's a vampire or any other supernatural creature to do?

Never give up.

Okay, that sounds a tad simplistic, but it's true. They can't give up. If they do, then they're dead...like fully, really dead. Anders can't give up on Galen, despite Galen taking a risky move. How these two vampires deal with the ramifications of Galen's choices will shape their friendship and could destroy it.

So the bright side...like mentioned? The bright side here is to cling to your friends and the people you know you can count on. They might be the only ones you've got. Never give up and keep fighting. The more you fight and stick up for yourself, the more you find out what you're made of. Never surrender.

Want to know more about Never Give You Up or the other Battle Scarred books? Here you go!

He’ll get Anders out of his mind one way or another. But there’s something wicked on the horizon in the form of a virus meant to wipe out supernatural beings. The Most Wonderful Time of the Year by @MeganSlayer

The most wonderful time of the year...is now!

Have you heard that a ton of times? I have. For the longest time, I wondered what that meant. Now, follow me here. I don't mean, I didn't know Christmas was awesome. That's not it.

In the last few years, it's been tough around this time of the year. Two of my grandparents passed away in December - not the same year, but it's never easy. I was blessed with extra grandparents. At one time, I had four sets. Yep, four. Grandparents and Great-Grandparents. Honestly, it was very cool. Also a culture clash, but I miss it. I miss them. I see ornaments given to us by them or even just the stuff we inherited and it's tough.

Besides, 2016 has been a tough year. Our first dog, the one we've had a long time - almost 14 years - passed away. This has been the first holiday season without her. We have other dogs and the cats, but she was one of our children. Explaining to people why a song or a commercial makes me cry is rough. Canon in D makes me think of when I got married, which makes me think of being young and getting the dog... and yeah, tears.

But over Thanksgiving, I came to a realization. I looked at all of the reasons I wasn't fond of this time of the year and got depressed. But that's now that the holiday season is for. Sure, we should look back on the year and our lives and reflect. But it's more than that. For me, it's looking back on the things that happened and the fun. What did we accomplish? How did we grow.

I managed to deal with health problems, survived surgery and am so glad I went through the trial. I feel better, that's for sure.

I wrote in a Kindle World. That was big. I did a completely self-published project and put it out.

I'm raising the boy and successfully got him through another Cross Country season. He improved his time and is doing 5k races after the season.

Dh is my biggest support and I love him. We've grown a ton through the year.

I visited the Cincinnati Reds baseball park. #win

I've got great friends who have my back and I cherish them.

I've got goals for next year. Writing another kindle world book, continuing the Sanctuary series, continuing the Cedarwood series... writing as much as the muse allows... and being happy for what I have and those in my life.

What about you? What are you looking forward to? What's on your 2017 bucket list? I'd love to know. Maybe we can compare notes. :-)

Here's a book that was a bright spot for me in 2015, Harvest Moon :-)

Harvest Moon by Megan Slayer

All Matt Green wants for Thanksgiving is to propose to his boyfriend in the most epic way he knows-in front of their families. There's only one catch. His boyfriend, Reed Jordan, doesn't do family gatherings. To be honest, Reed isn't wild about Thanksgiving, but he won't say why.
Matt's willing to do anything in order to get Reed to talk, but will it make the holiday perfect or or ruin all of Matt's plans? The Harvest Moon just might be the right omen to make everything all right. Available now at:MLR Press: http://www.mlrbooks.com/Bookstore.php?bookid=MSHARVMNAmazon: http://www.amazon.com/Harvest-Moon-Megan-Slayer-ebook/dp/B00PYVBTBY/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1416954595&sr=8-9&keywords=megan+slayer * * * * *
