Enter Casey. He’s part vampire, part Fae, dangerous and only has eyes for Raine. He saw her at the BDSM club before she entered the vampire slave world and he swore he’d rescue her. He buys her the instant he sees her on the stage. The innocence in her eyes, combined with the sweetness in her soul calls to him. He wants her to serve him in the bedroom and be his partner everywhere.

She’s been hurt, and he’s a born protector. Can they make the attraction last and turn it into something eternal or will the fear win out?

Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of violence, fighting and death, as well as references to forced sex and feeding from humans.

“You’re an odd vampire. Most every other one I’ve known wants me for dinner. Either you don’t because you’re weird or you’re lulling me into liking you so I’ll give in. If you are, you don’t have to make me like you. I’ll give in. I know the rules because you bought me. Remember?”

“Why don’t you shower and maybe get some sleep? I won’t kill or drain you.” He wanted her to trust him, but he didn’t want compliancy. Not yet and not outside of the bedroom. He liked her fire and the spunk he’d seen at the club.

“I don’t have much of a choice,” she said. “May I have this?”

“The wine? Of course.” He poured himself a glass of merlot. “Let’s drink to your freedom and new home.”

She stared at him, and he couldn’t read her expression. Wary? Confused? He wasn’t sure.

Casey sipped his wine. “Feel free to use whatever’s in the bathroom. I have no secrets from you.” Not many.

Her eyes widened again, and her lips parted. “You scare me.” She drank the wine in one gulp, then coughed.

Good merlot should be sipped—not gulped. But he hadn’t gone two days without food. “Why do I scare you?”

She shrugged out of his coat. “Because I can’t tell what you’re thinking or what you want from me.”

“Oh?” His previous girl had said he’d telegraphed every move.

“I don’t know what you want and I can’t figure out if you’re telling me the truth.” She left the stool. “I’d like that shower, though, please?”

He kept getting her right to the edge of opening up when she shut down again. Soon, he’d know her secrets, and she’d know his. He led her to the set of rooms along the back of the house. “In here. I’ve got towels, soap and anything you need in the drawers.”

“Even a flat iron?”

She’d volleyed a challenge. Nice. He liked her spirit. “If you want.” He turned the water on in the open stall. “I’ll leave you to your shower.”

“You can watch. I haven’t showered in ages.” She removed her filthy dress. “I used to have guards so I wouldn’t run away. I don’t know what it’s like to have privacy.”

Lomax used guards? Interesting. Casey spied the lines on her back. Lashings? “Were you whipped?”

She shuddered and didn’t turn around “I was told I deserved it.”

He touched the silvery scars. He remembered when he’d seen her at the club, she’d gotten off on being flogged, but not to the point of bloodletting. What she’d been through was abuse. She flinched when he touched her again.

“I’m sorry.” He pressed a kiss to her shoulder. “I’ll never do anything like this to you ever.”

She tensed, but didn’t pull away. “Uh-huh.”

Soon, she’d give him her trust, and he’d prove not all vampires were evil. He wasn’t a nice man—more a son of a bitch—but not with her. She could be his salvation, and he refused to screw that up.

“Sit.” He turned on his heel. As Tiger Lily dropped to her knees on the floor, Peter shielded Wendy from her gaze. Something clinked and words were whispered between them. Shadows moved across the floor as Wendy left the room.
Moments passed and seemed like hours while Tiger Lily waited. She wished she’d kept her mouth shut and her aggravation to herself.
“Okay.” Footsteps padded on the floor beside her. Peter’s boots came into view and he squatted in front of her. “Michael and John will be here later. You’re going to have to be patient. I understand you’re hurting. They’ve been gone a while and played with another sub the last time they were here. I get it. But what happened is between the three of you. You’re going to have to tell them what you want. Change the contract, write up a new one, I don’t care, but leave me out of it.”
“Sir.” Tiger Lily couldn’t keep the pain out of her voice.
“Yes?”
“I wanted you to choose me.” There. She’d said it. She loved Michael and John, but since they were younger she’d wished Peter would’ve chosen her over Wendy. Tiger Lily needed him. Didn’t she?
“Lily, my heart chose Wendy a long time ago. I’ve done things for her I never thought I’d do. I love Wendy.” He curled his fingers under her chin. “But John and Michael love you. They helped another Dom, yes, but they love you.”
“Then why don’t they tell me?” Tears streaked down her cheeks. She balled her fists. “I have no idea how they feel. I’m a toy to them, not a person.”
“Then ask them where you stand.” Peter stood and folded his arms. Wendy crept into the room and put her arm around Tiger Lily.
“Those two… sometimes you need to be specific with them. They think they know what’s going on. John’s so smart and Michael’s heart is so big, but they miss things. They love you, I’m sure, just as I’m certain you love them.” She brushed Tiger Lily’s hair from her face. “Make them earn your love.”
Sometimes she didn’t care for Wendy very much. Other times, Tiger Lily liked having another sub to get what she was going through. She knew her men, but now she truly understood them. Yes, they’d helped train another sub, but they still cared about her. Now she needed to show them exactly what she wanted, too.
“Thank you, Sir. Thank you, Wendy.” Tiger Lily nodded. She knew exactly what to do -- make her men beg.

Candlelit Magic by @WendiZwaduk #witches #magic #pnr #romance #mf #paranormalromance

It's time for some magic. Come check out Candlelit Magic. There are witches, kitties and a date for a wedding.

Candlelit Magic by Wendi Zwaduk

Part of the Wanton Witches Collection
Total-E-Bound Publishing
Contemporary, Paranormal, M/F, Anal Sex
Novella

Even love witches get the blues.

Havan’s magical potions bring couples together and give them the happily ever after of their dreams. Too bad her spells don’t work for her. In Erie View, the townspeople see nothing more than a witch. All she wants is to find that special man to embrace her quirks and love her. Will she be able to accept the blessings of the Goddesses or lose faith in herself?

Neil doesn’t believe in magic. It’s trickery for television and movies. No one creates a spell for people to fall in love. Hell, he doesn’t even believe in love. After a string of crappy dates and dead-end romances, he’s through with relationships. But a chance meeting at the grocery store changes his mind. Havan’s nothing like he expects—but is the blue haired witch enough to make him give romance another shot?

“I wanted to thank you in person for the candle. It’s very pretty.” He snapped his lips shut. Damn it. He sounded stupid. “I don’t know what I’ll use it for, but they make the house smell nice.” Shit.
She stared at him, but didn’t say anything.
“I suck at small talk.” And apparently trying to sound smooth in front of beautiful women. “What”—Neil picked up a tiny bottle filled with amber liquid—“exactly do you do here? And what is this?”
“I’m a witch.”
Matter-of-fact, no inflection in her voice. Factual and blunt. What would it take to make her smile? Blush? Call out his name when he pumped into her pussy? Oh shit, he needed to get his thoughts away from sex.
He paused a moment to make sure that he’d heard her right. “A witch?”
“Yes, and I make the potions the people in town rave about. I’m not Madame Scarlett and neither is Cian. I thought everyone in town knew, but hey, you might not have. She’s just the name I picked out when my Aunt Siobhan turned the store over to me. Cian likes red, so her hair is red and she lets everyone think she’s Madame.” Havan folded her hands on the glass display case. “I heard you say you wanted something for your sister. I remember her, vaguely. Her then boyfriend came in looking for a love potion. I gave him one and it seems to have worked.”
“Kasen?” The guy had used a love potion? He knew the general story, but to hear Melissa talk, it was love at first sight. The spell or potion or whatever came a lot later.
“Sounds right.” Havan shrugged. “They got what they wanted.”
Well, what do you know? Neil pointed to the bottle with the amber stuff inside. “This? Is this what they used?” He needed to keep her talking.
“Yes.” She wore two rings per hand, each ring set with a huge stone—one in red and one in black. “This one will get you a date and this one will get you forever.” She tapped the top of a black bottle. “Cian claims we have potions for revenge and greed, but they don’t work.”
“Why not?” He picked up one of the black bottles. “If I cast a spell for a negative reason, then that negativity will come back to me threefold. It sucks.” She tucked a lock of darker blue hair behind her ear. A selection of hoop earrings dangled from her ear, starting at the top and following down to her earlobe. “I learnt my lesson a long time ago. Don’t cast what you can’t handle.” For the first time since he’d seen her, she smiled and laughed. “You will totally regret it.”
“I hear you.” Neil gripped the bottle. The more she talked, the more he wanted to listen to her. His cock pushed against his pants and he mashed the bulge into the front of the display case to ease his ache. “My sister already fell in love, so she doesn’t need this. Think it’ll help me?”
Havan sighed. “It will, but you have to accept whoever is chosen. What you want might not be what you get, but she will be the one your heart truly desires.”
Her words stopped him cold. She wasn’t a thing like he expected and she sure as shit wasn’t his type and yet he couldn’t help but want to see her. “I’ll take it and whatever it was your friend went upstairs to find.”
“Oh. Okay.” Havan wrote up the bill on a receipt pad. “Give her a moment.”
“I will.” Neil clutched the bottle tighter. A witch. No wonder the people around town talked ill of Madame Scarlett’s. No one knew what the hell they were dealing with. But Havan didn’t strike him as a witch. No green skin or huge warts. Maybe he’d been watching too much television. The bracelets on her wrist jangled as she wrote.
“I know my sister was being forward, but I’ve got a question.” He wanted to see her again. Had to. “Would you accompany me to my sister’s wedding?”
“What?” Her eyes widened again, displaying the ring of dark blue surrounding her pupils. The lighter blue flecks sparkled. Would she look at him that way during sex? He hoped so. Hoped she’d give him a chance, too.
“Well, you brought them together.” Stupid, stupid. He took one of the business cards and flipped it over, then wrote his phone number and the date of the wedding. “My name is Neil and I know this is a shitty way to ask you out, but I really am drawn to you.” He slid the card to her. “No strings, but if you’d like to go with me, I’d love to see you.”

Getting Back Out There with @MeganSlayer #writing #publishing #revisions #newedition

There are a few fun things involved in being an author. You're writing books. That's cool enough. I love being able to write for a living. You are welcomed into someone else's life to share your story. That's big. The first time I heard someone sought me out because they wanted to read my book was a crazy, fun moment.

But there are a few things that aren't so fun. One of them would have to be when a publishing house closes. You've got your works there. You want to keep them out. Most of all--at least in my case--you love your publisher and don't want to see them close. But then it happens. Now what?

I ran into that problem. I have books with a pub that's closed. Many publishers don't want previously published stories. They want new works. Makes sense. New hasn't been seen before. New is shiny. New is...new.

But those old stories aren't bad. Some need updated. Some need help. Most don't have anything wrong with them. They're just stories that have been out already. Some have had large reader bases and some have had smaller ones. Some books just need another chance to get out there and be seen.

That's where I'm at. I've got an entire series that's aching to come out again. So that's what I did. The whole series is coming out in October. Which? The Battle Scarred Series. Yes. I'm thrilled to have them back out again. It's great.

Want to know more about the Battle Scarred series? Here's a little bit about book 1, You Have Me:

You Have Me

By Megan Slayer
Battle Scarred, Book 1
Contemporary Paranormal Romance
M/F, Anal Sex, BDSM, Bondage, Toys, Spanking

When the rest of the world crumbles and fails, you have me.

Kynan Laing gave up his mortal soul to the will of the Sources, the ancient beings in charge of the universe. With the sensual grace and speed in his vampire form, he serves in his role as a Protector for the Supernatural world. But the impending war between the Supers and Hunters is heating up. The woman he's charged to protect is all grown up and the perfect submissive partner he wants. Can he keep his heart under wraps while keeping her safe?

Alexa Mercury doesn't know why she's supposed to trust the vampire, but she does. Even when she pushed him away, Kynan watches over her. She craves him like no other and wants to submit body and soul to him, even if he is a Supernatural creature of the night. When circumstances beyond her control force them together, Lexa will have to decide whether to offer her heart to the vampire or risk her very soul.

This book was previously released and has been revamped for this edition.

Kynan closed the door to her room and enfolded her in his arms. He stroked her hair, breathing in the scent of her perfume. Watching her through the window paled in comparison to actually holding her.
“Stay with me tonight.” Lexa’s words curled around his heart. “I need you more than you know.”
“You have me,” he replied. She fit so perfectly against his body, like they’d been fated to be together. He thanked God and the forces who’d thrown them together. He kissed the top of her head. “You’re shaking.” Kynan carried her to the bed and cuddled her on his lap. Was their reuniting too much, too soon? Too bad.
“Don’t peer into my head.” Lexa rubbed his arm.
“I won’t.” Damn it. He’d spent so much time peering into the heads of humans he forgot what it was like to take someone on their word. “Tell me what’s upsetting you?” Besides her scary as hell ex happened to be a hunter and wanted him dead. “I’ll lay down my life for you.”
“You’re dead.” She tipped her gaze to his. His skin tingled from her touch on his arm. Most of the time he felt nothing. Now that he was with her, everything came into sharp focus. Her touch sizzled on his skin, and he longed for his heart to beat for her. He groaned.
“I don’t want to be alone.” Lexa kissed his neck, pressing her face to his jugular. “I want to feel loved, not like I’m a freak.”
“You’ve never been a freak.” Why should she feel that way? Because she liked kinky sex? Because she knew a vampire? Bullshit. “Tell me what you like.”
“You.”

Thunder

Imagine a world where you can be protected by descendants of disciples with a multitude of magical powers. Some of these guys are unhuman, some are not; they're not all good, but they're not all bad either. When they love you--no one will harm you! I wrote four of these stories back in 2012 under the pen name Jocie Parker. Unfortunately they remained hidden in ebook land as I did little to no promotion. I've picked up on that a bit and I hope readers discover these not overly religious, often rebellious men who strive to find true love and their place in the world.

Disciple's Descendants book 2 is live at Amazon and Kobo!

Thunder, who first appeared in Ander: Disciple's Descendants book one, is an unhuman disciple not sure of his heritage and he's spent the majority of his life protected by a dragon shifter. His story is short but he'll turn up in others lending a hand when his brothers need 'earth shaking' assistance.

Each story will have its own satisfying end; however, books are serialized and they will be better enjoyed if read in order. Here's a preview:

THUNDER

Death is overrated as punishment!

John Thunder will kill anyone who stands in his way to keep Layla Clark safe. That includes Gage, the disciple’s leader, who stopped him before and kept him from the only woman in the world he desires. Layla is his, she knows it, he knows it, and he will have her at any cost.

Layla’s mind is lost, dead to everything except the memory of John Thunder. She recalls his touch, how he held and comforted her when nothing else could. But will she be able to love the man she belongs to—the man who destroyed her husband?

Excerpt:

“Why initially select us to fix this if he refused to sanction our ending it? Hell, if he had allowed me to remove Wes from her life I could have…”
“Could have what? Loved her enough to make her whole again? Contrary to popular belief, love doesn’t heal everything. It was for the best.”
Thunder turned to see the one person he considered a friend watching him with as much pain in his eyes as he himself felt. Aside from Gage, Leviat was the only living creature who knew he loved Layla. “At least I could have kept her out of this bastard’s hands."
“Gage… Gage thought she’d be safe with the disciple who died trying to protect her.” Leviat’s eyes glowed yellow with anger this time. “Unlike you, I, and a few others who are unhuman, most descendants don’t live forever. Some can be killed.”
“Ain’t that a bitch? All these wonderful powers yet some still die at the hands of ordinary men.” His chest deflated beneath a deep sigh. Thunder had made note of Leviat’s hesitation. “You know as well as I Gage always has another plan. I regret the disciple’s death but it must have been his time to depart. By the way, we have a new brother among us. Our illustrious leader believes he can help Layla.”
“Jesus, he must be one hell of a mind bender.”
“He’s got a rough road ahead.” Thunder grunted. “Name’s Ander and Pet loves him.”
“Rough road my ass, Gage is going to crucify that poor bastard if he so much as says he doesn’t like Pet’s cooking.” A dark brow quirked up. “Does he know about…?”
“My inability to move through the atmosphere? Yes.” Waves slapped against the stone cage jostling it sideways. “He spent but seconds in my fucked-up head.”
“Shit, that’s impressive. Can he heal Layla?”
A moan filled the air and Thunder was glad for the distraction as Leviat’s question had plagued him since meeting with Gage. Both men swiveled to see Dean scramble to his feet. “Let me out of here.”
Leviat spoke first. “Why? You calling the cops or something? Sit down and shut the fuck up before I eat your sorry ass.” Humans did not often see a dragon’s true face. This one did. Claws sprung from Leviat’s hands and scrapped noisily across the rocky surface. A reptilian mouth opened wide shooting a burst of flame toward the man whose scream sent a gaggle of geese skyward. Leviat’s visage changed back quickly and he jerked around. “Go, I’ll look after this one.”
Thunder felt a grimace contort his face as he growled, “Thank God you did not touch her.” Clapping his hands, he sent a ripple across the ground splitting the crevice beneath the formation another few inches tossing the man to the ground. “The devil will roast your balls for dinner if you’re lucky.”
Waking with a start, every bone in Layla Clark’s body vibrated when the bed shook beneath her. He had finally come. On the other side of her bedroom door stood a killing machine who… No matter, it was too late and history couldn’t be rewritten.
Neither could the future.
She found that out the hard way. In the past, her feeble attempts to warn people, change destiny, had always gone miserably wrong. People either shunned Layla or called her crazy, and on occasion they locked her up in squalid institutions. When some believed in the prophecies, and even heeded her dire warnings, a domino effect proved even worse than what she originally saw befall them. Innocent people became caught in the backlash dying horrible deaths. Each one left a scar on her soul. Some things were meant to be.
John Thunder’s deadly involvement with Wes was one of those things.
The moment her protector died and her home was taken over by Dean Jergens, an old associate of her dead husband, Layla envisioned John’s arrival and wasn’t afraid. Not of him. Thoughts of John kept her from going completely insane as she waited for this day but years of hiding in her mind took a toll. Try as she might, Layla couldn’t put apparitions of death and carnage from her. The only other person once able to break through was Petula, her little girl. She had to send her away, and there was no doubt Gage Harrow would keep her safe always. Not a day passed she didn’t struggle to see her daughter live and grow into a beautiful woman.
Her heart pounded painfully against her ribcage when fleeting visions of John appeared walking with Pet or lifting her high in the air spinning until Layla’s little girl giggled. Petula had a wonderful life and her gift of prophecy had been buried deep in her psyche by the disciple’s leader and, for that, Layla would forever be beholding to him. Her baby wouldn’t be haunted and used as she was by people she trusted and loved. Thinking of Pet today, an odd peace stole over her, the kind of peace which often carried wariness. Seeing the future of one you loved was practically impossible. Layla shook her head unable to believe what she glimpsed.
Finally, the bedroom door slowly squeaked open and there he stood clothed only in leather pants, skin glistening under a sheen of sweat, and short, wavy black hair slicked back failed to hide a few streaks of gray. His chest heaved up and down, stomach muscles knotted together, and thighs bunched beneath thick material as he strode toward her. Lips formed a slash under a proud nose and high cheekbones stood prominent on a shadowed face creased and hardened by years of delivering death. Fire flashed in emerald green eyes gazing in her direction.
Layla couldn’t wait any longer to tell the man approaching her bed she wanted him as much as he wanted her.
“Layla.”
His voice soothed her unsettled soul and letting her mind go a little, she saw a bit more of their future. This time it was welcomed. Layla opened her arms. “John.”
Gage is bringing help.

Halloween Festivities and the Pass of Time...Plus Vampires with @MeganSlayer #vampires #novella #gayromance #halloween

Halloween is sort of a bittersweet time of year for me. It's the changing of the season. The leaves are starting to fall, the temps are cooler and I can break out the comforter again. It's when the decorations start coming out and everything looks festive...if not a little creepy. I love it.

I'm a cool weather kid. Not COLD weather, but cool. I like when I can snuggle up. I'd rather be chilled than sweating any day.

But this time of year is bittersweet, like I said. The sports season my family takes part in, cross country, is mainly over by Halloween. The weather is a tad too chilly for running, although they still do get out there. But it's the end of the season. Another year done. One year closer to when I don't have an athlete in the house. Boo.

Then there's the change in attitude. We used to carve pumpkins and trick or treat. Pumpkin carving should still take place, but I'm the one usually doing it. No one else wants to handle the muck. Ha ha. But the trick or treating... I never thought there was a time when you were too old to T-or-T. As long as you're not causing trouble and you're having fun... I don't see an issue. But there are rules restricting the age of some T-or-T-ers around where I live. So my family doesn't T-orT any longer. Nope. I buy a chunk of fudge, usually peanut butter fudge for the manchildren to devour and maybe a box of chocolate covered strawberries for me and that's it. Kind of sad. No candy to last forever. No candy-fest the night of Halloween.

So what do we do instead? A Halloween run, of course. I'm not much of a runner. My knees can't handle it. I used to dance in high school and one too many connections with the concrete floor did more damage than I'd like to admit. But I try to run. I get out there. My family, though, they are the runners.

Instead of a big bag of candy, they'll get yet another drawstring bag, but also the thrill of accomplishing a run. The thrill of making great time and having fun while sweating in costume. I'll be there, dressed as Wendy from Peter Pan and cheering. Why not? It'll be a good time.

But that's why this season is bittersweet. We've gone from costumes and T-or-T to running. The scare factor is still there, but it's also included with thumping shoes and getting up at the butt crack of dawn to hustle. Could be worse. Could be no Halloween at my house at all. I'm okay with the change. I'm getting used to it. We'll watch scary movies, a few not so scary ones and the Garfield Halloween Special. I'll do their makeup for the run and we'll do a lot of laughing. It'll be worth it.

Besides, I still have my black cat decorations all over and my scary vampire obsession. Speaking of vampires...

Here's a little bit about my latest novella, Biting Love. It's part of the series I wrote as a crossover to Madison Sevier's Rosie Peaks series. Check it out!!

Biting Love By Megan Slayer A Rosie Peaks Crossover Novella
Megan Slayer Publications
M/M, Anal Sex
Vampires
Contemporary, Paranormal

Mix one vampire with one human who doesn’t believe in the paranormal and add some sizzle.

Anson wasn’t looking for a partner when he spotted the handsome human, but he’s not about to argue when the mood strikes. He’s got to bring a date to the Halloween bash and Parker fits his bill exactly. Now all he needs to do is convince Parker that vampires truly exist.

Parker is practical, intelligent and a little on the geeky side. He can’t believe his eyes—a handsome man has not only hit on him, but asked him out…to a masquerade ball. He doesn’t believe in vampires, but Anson wears his Dracula costume a bit too well.

Can these two find love and trust after all or will the sparks only last until the dawn?

Disciple's Descendants

I'm throwing my hat into the 'serialized' book venue! Again.

Disciple's Descendants is a series of short novellas that each have their own happy ending but--it's a continuous storyline. Series. And I told myself no more, just do one novel, one story! Right. I've been furiously typing away so as to have at least 5 of them ready with the intent to release one every 4-5 weeks. Four are totally done, out with beta readers and an editor. I can't wait to re-release them into the world of readers. Yes, re-release because they initially premiered back in 2012 with me writing under a nom de plume -- Jocie Parker. I believe the rewrites are so much better. I neglected these guys on their first foray into the reader's sphere. This time they come with promo and a trailer is underway as soon as I find suitable music. I truly enjoy splashing these men, some of which are unhuman, onto pages.

Not only are there relatives of the original disciples, there be dragons here!

The dragon shifter, Leviat, appears in Scorching Book Review's 2017 Sex Scene Championship this month and if you haven't hopped over to be warmed by a few HOT! sex scenes, go now. I'll wait for you to get back.

Hey? Hello!! I know, I know. It's scorching hot over there. Did you vote for Leviat?

Anyway, welcome back. I'm going to give you a quick preview of Disciple's Descendant 4 starring Simeon Zeals and his kinky human, Nancy Cannon.

I am beginning to think these characters need a Tree of Life just so I can keep up with them all and know who is who! Similar to the one I have in my head (and in a crazy wild spreadsheet) pages, and pages, and pages... So many series.

Simeon
Disciple's Descendant 4

Simeon Zeals is invisible to humans. Hell, just one disciple aside from Gage Harrow masters the ability to keep up with his movements so taking what he covets poses no problem. Until he meets someone who is out of reach. Gage and Zeb protecting her only makes Simeon want the woman more. He doesn’t give a damn she isn’t a descendant. He hasn’t even thought past bedding her for more than one night—maybe two… Or three.
Nancy Cannon unknowingly stumbles into disciples frequently at Arrogant Bastards, but when she hit a solid wall of invisible muscle, her life careens out of control. Meeting the flesh and blood version elevates her senses, has her feeling and wanting things Nancy never even dreamed of. Caught in his web of desire, she begins to spin a few of her own.
Each silken thread of passion slowly tightens around them.

Excerpt
Nancy stopped inside the door and slumped against the wall trembling. What the fuck? She’d known Zeb long enough to know that wasn’t his voice. The words she heard outside were spoken by someone else, someone whose tone sent a bolt of lust right to her core. Glancing around the club, she searched for Pet and found her staring toward the entrance. Since Pet discovered her mother was alive and visited with her often, she had been nothing but happy so why the downturn to her lips? What in hell was going on? Everyone at the table peered in Nancy’s direction and for the first time, she saw them clearly. An iridescent light glowed around the group appearing to encase them in…in some kind of bubble. Squeezing her eyes shut and shaking her head dissolved the strange vision. She’d known for a while the guys from TD, Inc. weren’t normal, but she couldn’t put her finger on exactly what was different.
“We need to talk.”
The back of Nancy’s head bumped the wall. “Ouch!” Engrossed in thoughts, she hadn’t noticed Pet leave the table or walk over. “What?”
“We need…”
“Pet, I got this.” The voice.
That was the voice she heard in front of Arrogant Bastards and it sent another delicious tremor straight to the apex of her thighs. Her tiny panties couldn’t take another pulse of liquid. Turning to see who owned it, Nancy looked into the sexiest smoky gray eyes she’d ever seen. Pinpoints of silver lights sparkled in their depths as the man who owned them flashed a crooked smile. How freaking dare him! He’d licked her and rubbed his… “You rude bastard.” Why the hell didn’t she see him outside? And even worse, why did he turn her on, make her weak in the knees.
“Mmm, sweet lips, and wrapped around such dirty words.”
“Simeon, I need to talk to Nancy. There are some things she doesn’t understand.”
“Pet, honey, Ander’s rifling through my mind and staring at me with pure hatred. Go, I said I got this.”
Simeon. His name rolled through her mind but it did nothing to abate Nancy’s growing more and more agitated at how they both ignored her. “Me, it’s me you’re talking about as if I’m not here.” They still didn’t look at her.
Pet’s head leaned, “I’ve seen something.”
“Yeah, what would that be?”
“Sim, I’ll leave you with one word—Gage.” Was it possible Pet, Nancy's oldest and dearest friend, was scared?
“I’ll handle Gage.”
“Simeon, I mean it.”
“Pet, go. If Ander bum rushes my mind, it won’t be healthy for any of us.”
Bum rush his mind! While he talked with Pet, Nancy checked Simeon out from head to toe. Lord, he was big, tall, absolutely gorgeous, and… Big! Thick, dark hair curled over his collar and his partially unbuttoned white dress shirt did nothing to hide hair sprinkled over an eye level muscular chest. Lean, long fingers of one hand splayed on the wall beside her head, and his arm bulged inside fine material. Narrow hips were hugged by perfectly creased brown slacks, hips she imagined pressed against her ass again, naked hips pumping... Enough already!
“Your fate, not mine.” Pet twirled and walked away.
Creep had slobbered on her. “HELLO,” Nancy yelled, “I’m right here, damn it.” She watched Pet return to the table.
“Darling, I know that.”
“What makes you think you can just rub against my ass, slobber on me and…”
“Slobber? Really? Why is everyone so dramatic tonight?”
His other hand came up and a finger feathered across her chest, moved to touch her lips, and Nancy had had it. She opened her mouth and bit hard. “There, fucker.”
“Son of a bitch, you got some fire in you.” The cretin smiled, and the whole room lit up. “Have a drink with me?”

Writing What You Love with @MeganSlayer #vampires #gayromance #eroticromance #gay #paranormal

I am part of a book club, well 2, and for one of them we have to read the book the group selects. I don't mind. These tend to be books I wouldn't have read otherwise. So I'd finished the book selected for this month and was returning it to the library. I told the librarian that I'd returned it, so when she saw it in the return...that's why. She asked me what I thought about the book. It wasn't my favorite story. It wasn't. I had some issues with the way the author wrote the true crime story. He focused more on his thoughts and his insertion into the story, while trying to claim it was a true crime kind of tale. If he'd said it was a work of fiction, then he was spot on, but by calling it true crime...well, I disagreed.

Here's the thing, the librarian then said to me, well you have to write what you know. He must feel that close to the story.

She's right. He must've felt that close to the story. To be honest, the crime he wrote about hit me hard, too. But I'm not a crime writer. I get too antsy during mystery books and want to disclose whodunit immediately. I guess it's part of my short attention span. But what she said got me to thinking. Write what I know? Or write what my imagination and the characters dictate?

I tend to write what I want based on what the characters tell me to do. Really. I tried to write more than a few times to what I knew. It's only worked when my characters share some of my experiences. Okay, so I don't personally know any vampires and I haven't chatted up a zombie, but that's my imagination. I don't know if I wrote a story that focused just on my personal experience, if it would be a good story. I don't know. I guess it would be more of an autobiography than a work of fiction. Although I suppose the book would be a mix of both. My memories aren't photographic. For all I know, I'd probably embellish--not to make the tale better, but because that's how I'd remembered it.

But I haven't written that story about my experiences. I've written about vampires, zombies, shifters, romance, love and people finding second chances. It's been fantastic. I love it. I've written with my friends and written alone. I can't wait to get my next book out there. I hope you all enjoy them. :-)

Here's a little bit about my upcoming story, Biting Love. It's part of the series I wrote as a crossover to Madison Sevier's Rosie Peaks series. Check it out!!

Biting Love By Megan Slayer A Rosie Peaks Crossover Novella

A Strange Turn of Events

I've carried a small tablet used for jotting down storylines as long as I can remember. To say I'm an avid reader would also be spot-on. There are books in the trunk of my car, my kindle lives in my purse waiting for those few minutes of freedom when I turn it on and "flip" through titles or continue reading a story I started. Thing is, I frequently find myself reading more than one book at a time which is often the way I write.

I've always favored paranormal stories, particularly vampire/vampyre. Yes, the first few books I picked up they were vampYres! Years ago...many, many years ago, I started a story about vampyre cats who came about due to interference by an angel and prophet. Like many of my stories, they were often shoved to the back of a drawer, placed in a box under the bed, gosh, they were everywhere! Some still collect dust. There were also storylines involving the devil, shifters, and magical beings of every kind. The devil and sons in Hellacious, my dogs in Shepherd's Watch, hawks in Immortal Redeemers, all found the light of day in various stories which have been published at Changeling Press. Quite a few cats, even a wolf, growled onto the scene in novellas and continue to thrive at Changeling in the Extra Cream Series.

Which brings me to the title of my post.

This series is a box set containing four novellas that introduced my vampyre big cats to readers. I stripped these books from the over 100k version of Reign of Blood which started out as my working title. The basic premise is these creatures evolved because an angel got bored in Heaven and decided to sit back and watch what would happen when he and a prophet allowed the cats to be infected with vamp blood. Neither expected the 'strange turn of events'. Nor did I when I decided to pull angels from the book because they clamored in my head for their own stories!

Archangels Series
So far Ramiel and Uriel (his tale will be republished by month's end) have had lives of their own. Soon Gabriel and the prophet, Ezekiel, both responsible for vampyre cats, will get a novella of their own. Michael, Lucifer--who secretly conjured a bloody being of his own named Phoenix (and, yes, he rose from ashes, can take the form of a cat or vampyre as well as having angelic tendencies--I've had a long running affair with this being!) There is Samael--the Grim Reaper, Raphael... They all appear in the first two books and still rattle around in my head looking for a place in my fictional universe.

The Dilemma
Having received rights to a couple of these vamp books (Hard Case and Quench) and preparing to republish them, I've decided to bring them back together with their angelic creators. No easy feat. I'm reading each with an eye on timelines and other anomalies that could crop up. I never expected it to be this hard?! I've even felt at times, let it go and began with new things but I love these stories so I have chosen the tougher route. It does help that in the first books I made it very clear there are cats who wish to remain true to their species so they reside on compounds spending a majority of time in their furryness and don't have huge roles. Patrolled and protected by cats who embrace their vampyre brethren's abilities, who, by drinking human blood become much stronger and a force to be reckoned with as they walk in daylight; it's these guys I've previously written about who will need to be returned to the fold so to speak and slipped back into my world being mindful of their previous storylines while creating new stories. Wow, that was a mouthful that should probably be edited for punctuation or something! I remain confident I can bring them back together as I'm the one who tore them apart. If it were easy, I'd have given up on the craft of writing a long, long time ago.

A strange turn of events, indeed!
