Reading Kick, Plot Musing, Etc

I've been on a reading kick lately. Don't get me wrong, I'm always reading. I just rarely choose it over writing. Lately, that hasn't been the case. I think a lot of it has to do with crazy overlapping release dates. It's like all my favorite authors got together and said, "Let's all release this week. Wheeee!" In a way, that's cool. It's almost like Christmas. In another way, my wallet is giving me the stink eye. LOL

Topping my list was Eternal Rider. (Writing this is actually reminding me I haven't blogged about my deep love for the series that comes before it, the Demonica series.) ER is set in the same Demonica world (yay!) but is a very cool continuation of the series handled in a way that will keep the old characters alive, but inject the series with fresh blood and new obstacles. It's really the perfect template for anyone contemplating writing a series. Instead of allowing a series to drag on aimlessly for nine or ten books, I much prefer this method.

I really think, now that I've finished all of Demonica (five books) and have read Eternal Rider, that I'll start a re-read. Larissa makes beautiful plot circles. Really, the whole series is perfectly plotted, but I love being able to see the circles so clearly.

Anyway, I'm recovering from my daughter's birthday yesterday (part two of four), so I'll leave y'all with a reading rec for Pleasure Unbound. I would have made that Eternal Rider, but your reading experience will be greatly enhanced by reading Demonica before starting the Lords of Deliverance series.
(Plus I have a bit of a thing for Eidolon. <3)

In a place where ecstasy can cost you your life…

She’s a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure—but fears it will always be denied her. Until Tayla Mancuso lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life.

Two lovers will dare to risk all.

Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion. Not only is she his avowed enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people. Torn between his need for the truth and his desire to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable—and let Tayla possess him, body and soul…

I love that series too. Love it. Its extraordinarily good. And I've been in a reading stage too. Lora Leigh's latest Breed book came out yesterday and Christina Dodd's next Governess book. Can't get enough...LOL

Because of your tweets I bought Eternal Rider (the book so nice you tried to buy it thrice!) & though it pains me, I will read the Demonica books first. I'll just *pet* ER a bit while I get the others ....

Rebecca, I'd forgotten a new Breed book was out. They're hit or miss for me these days, but when they're good...

Sasha, Eternal Rider is awesome, but I can already tell Lords of Deliverance won't take the place of Demonica in my heart. So, not only will reading ER be enhanced by reading Demonica first, but you'll probably fall hard and fast for the guys anyway. ;)

(Just remember Hailey <3 E 4evah)
